Phenergan tablets contain a medicine called promethazine hydrochloride, which is an antihistamine. They are allergy tablets used to treat the symptoms of allergic reactions. Phenergan also relaxes the brain, making it useful as a short-term insomnia medication. However, you shouldn't use it if you're struggling for anything more than a few days and you should see a GP. Phenergan can also be used to treat nausea and several other conditions.
Product description
Phenergan for sleep works by blocking histamine, which is the chemical your body releases that causes allergy symptoms. Histamine can also cause symptoms such as nausea. As a result, Phenergan can be used to treat a range of symptoms, including:
- Allergic reactions, such as hay fever or rashes like nettle rash or hives
- Treating or preventing nausea or vomiting, such as travel sickness
- Difficulty sleeping (insomnia) in the short-term
Usage instructions
You should not take Phenergan 25mg for longer than seven days, as it is intended for short-term use. If your symptoms still persist, you should talk to your doctor or pharmacist. For information on specific usage, you should consult the patient information leaflet, as dosage and other factors depend on the reason for taking the medication.
